Thai Government Hospitals
All doctors will speak English in government hospitals and the standard of care is generally excellent, although waiting times can be long. In an emergency it is better to use a Thai speaker to call for an ambulance as it is by no means certain that the numbers below will get through to an English speaker.
| Chulalongkorn University Hospital | Tel: 02 652 4600-9 |
| Rajavithi Hospital | Tel: 02 354 8108-9 |
| Siriraj Hospital | Tel: 02 419 7000 |
| Ramathibodi Hospital | Tel: 02 354 7308-9 |
Pharmacies
In general, pharmacies are open from 09:00-21:00, although some smaller pharmacies may be open before or after these times. There is more likely to be an English-speaking assistant in a pharmacy in a large department store or one of the many branches of Boots.
For assistance outside these opening hours it is best to go to a hospital.
Blood Transfusion Services
Rhesus negative blood is not common in Thai people and foreigners may find it is in short supply if required. Below is a centre that carries a supply of RH Negative blood and also a volunteer service that keeps a register of donors.

Personal Crises, Embassies & Passports
The Consular office of the Embassy of a foreign national in Thailand has the responsibility – and the facilities – to provide help and information to a citizen in distress. This may be as a result of being a victim of crime, arrested on suspicion of committing a crime, serious illness, the unexpected death of a partner or spouse, as well as help with repatriation after a crisis.
